Montgomery Parks Adaptive Equipment Usage Guidelines
Montgomery Parks strives to promote access and inclusion within the public places, facilities, and programs the department manages. The Program Access Office (Inclusion Services) has made a variety of adaptive equipment available throughout the county for people at no additional cost to the user.
Procedures will vary based on the location. Please read each description for specific details.

Access on Wheels
Appropriate adaptive equipment is available to use on-site at larger events. Please visit the event webpage to determine if the Access on Wheels Trailer will be on-site.
Adaptive Archery Field Pod Gun Tripod - South Germantown Archery Range
An ultra-stable and versatile shooting rest for your crossbow. Users can shoot their crossbow from a grounded, sitting or standing position. Height adjustment range of 18″ to 60″.
Available for public use at the archery range and during archery classes or camps.

Adaptive Fishing Kit - Black Hill Boats
The fishing kit includes the fishing grasping cuff, fishing palm cuff and the Reel Deal.
The fishing grasping cuff is designed for anglers with limited or no hand function. The grasping cuff curves your hand and allows for a fishing rod to be placed in the curve of your hand. The grasping cuff has Velcro on the wrist and over the top of your hand. The fishing palm cuff fits over two of your fingers and is secured around your wrist with a Velcro strap. There is heavy-duty Velcro on the palm of the cuff. The cuff is used in conjunction with the Reel Deal. The Reel Deal is an adaptive fishing accessory for individuals with limited or no hand function. It securely attaches to baitcasting and spinning reels where the handle is no more than one inch wide at the knob’s widest point. It can be removed and attached to another reel handle.

Adaptive Gardening Chair - Black Hill Visitor's Center or any
Community Garden
A comfortable swivel, rolling work seat that allows individuals to avoid bending or stooping while working in one of the various community gardens.
Visit the Black Hill Visitor Center or contact the Program Access Office to reserve this equipment.
Adult Tennis Wheelchair - Wheaton Tennis
A lightweight wheelchair designed to allow an athlete maximum flexibility of movement. It includes a positioning strap across the waist and/or thighs to keep the player safely in the chair. This is an 18″ wide chair with adjustable seat depth and height.

Automatic Tee-Up - South Germantown Driving Range
The Tee-Up is especially suited for individuals with physical mobility issues especially those with leg, back or hip issues. Push a button with your club or foot and the ball is automatically positioned on the tee. *Note: this piece of equipment has a small raised platform and is currently not wheelchair accessible.
Available for public use on a first-come, first-served basis. Please see a desk attendant inside the clubhouse for assistance.

Children's Tennis Wheelchair - Pauline Betz Addie Indoor Tennis Center
A lightweight wheelchair designed to allow a young person maximum flexibility of movement. It includes a positioning strap across the waist and/or thighs to keep the player safely in the chair. This is a 14″ wide chair with adjustable seat depth and height.

Ice Skating Aids - Wheaton Ice Arena and Cabin John Ice Rink
A light weight skate trainer that allows a young skater, a beginner, or a patron with a disability the stability and confidence to skate on ice. To use, an individual gently leans and pushes the equipment while skating forward.
Please contact the front desk for specific details on how to reserve a Skate Aid during public skating hours.

Oval Window Induction Loop - For use at public meetings, events or programs
An induction loop hearing assistance system suitable for indoor programs and public meetings. The system is compatible with all telecoil-equipped hearing aids as well as loop receivers with headphones.
Contact the Program Access Office for details on how to reserve this equipment for public meetings, events, or programs.

Powerless Golf Ball Dispenser - South Germantown Driving Range
Tee off equipment specially designed to assist all levels of golfers to practice the latest swing techniques. Simply push the lever to automatically place the ball on the tee. The foot stand is adjustable for ease of use. This equipment is fully accessible for a person using a wheelchair.
Available for public use on a first-come, first-served basis. Please see a desk attendant inside of the clubhouse to reserve this equipment or if you need assistance.

A standard wheelchair that aids a person with any physical limitation or health issue to navigate our parks and facilities.
Ask an attendant at the front desk/ customer service area to reserve the wheelchair for use during your visit. Procedures will vary.

Includes an adapted trowel, spade, and fork for individuals with arthritis or limited arm, wrist, and hand mobility.

Adaptive Shuttle Cart - At select special events
An adapted golf cart with special features including a boarding ramp attached to the cart for easy access on and off the cart for individuals with mobility issues and their companions.
This equipment is not available for request and is reserved for medium to large special events. Please visit the event webpage to determine if the cart will be on-site.
