The Pâté Painters is a most appropriate name for our art group because each time we get together to paint we celebrate life and friendship by enjoying fine foods and wines. Besides our love of painting, we share a common artistic bond. Our mutual respect for one another’s artistic ability and admiration for each other are the grounds upon which this group was founded. Each member brings his or her own perspective on life as represented in their art. Our paintings depict places, people and scenes that are meaningful to the artists and pleasing to the viewer. Our members all began their artistic endeavors in the medium of transparent watercolor. Yet during our artistic journey through life, we have come across other mediums in which we choose to experiment and develop our talents. We add other mediums to our watercolors or have switched mediums all together. In our exhibition, you will find works of watercolor, guache, acrylic, pastel, pencil, oil, sculpture, tinted papers and even fabric. The works of the Pâté Painters can be found in public and private collections and Galleries throughout the United States and Europe. All of our artists are members of the Montgomery Art Association

Debra Halprin is the founder of the Pâté Painters and hosts the group’s weekly meetings. Her works have been featured in articles in The Washington Post, The Gazette Newspaper, Washington Home & Design Magazine, Washington Spaces Magazine, Montgomery Insight, and in Palette Magazine. She is a member of the Potomac Valley Watercolorists, the Baltimore Watercolor Society, and the Montgomery Art Association where she served as chairman of its highly successful Annual Kensington Labor Day Art Show.

Jeanne Sullivan studied art at the University of Maryland and printmaking at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, VA. However, it was many years later that she fell in love with mixed media, combining many art forms with collage. Now she combines many mediums with her collages to achieve a textural balance and visual interest. Each collage has a sense of mystery. Many of the pieces combine layers of paints, torn papers, her photographs, prints and drawings, maps, and more. Her artwork has expanded to larger works; including two-dimensional artwork, boxes, birdhouses, ornaments, furniture, mirrors, frames, tiles, and jewelry. She is always dreaming of new things to collage. So, keep watching for new collaged work! Jeanne welcomes commission work. Currently, she is serving as the Vice President of the Art League of Germantown and is also a member of Montgomery Art Association and Strathmore Artists.

Pamela Gordimer is an environmental artist that is passionate about using her art to help bring to light many environmental issues. She is partnered with Keep America Beautiful and gives 20% of all sales and commissions to the nonprofit. Pam grew up an artist’s daughter, painting beside her mother in her studio since age six. As an adult artist, she has become passionate about environmental issues and using her art as a tool to help the healing of our earth. Pam believes that an artist has a higher calling, to share with the world what can only truly be seen through an artistic eye. It is a unique gift to interpret the world’s beauty by bringing a blank canvas alive with brilliant color and light.

Donna Golden is an award-winning artist whose love of life and art come together in her colorful and sometimes whimsical paintings. Her current chosen media is acrylic. She has also worked in pastels, oils, and watercolors. Her refreshing style reminds us of the simple joy and constant beauty of everyday life. She continues to exhibit locally and is available for commissions.
