Montgomery Parks announces operating hours and programs for the Presidents Day holiday weekend

WHEATON, Md. – Montgomery Parks announces programming and operating hours for the Presidents Day holiday weekend. Josiah Henson Museum and Park will have a special opening, and some stretches of Open Parkways will be extended.

The Black Hill Discovery Center at Black Hill Regional Park will be closed Friday, February 14 through Monday, February 17, 2025, for necessary repairs due to a power outage.

Open Parkways schedule

The Open Parkways will be extended for the Presidents Day holiday weekend. During this time, parkways are open to pedestrians and bicyclists and closed to motor vehicles.

Sligo Creek Parkway between Old Carroll Avenue and Piney Branch Road will be on an amended schedule due to Purple Line construction. Click here to learn more about this change.

*Please note: Gate closures are intended to be completed by the times listed above. The re-opening of the parkways begins at the times listed above. However, this process may take up to 30 minutes to complete.

Special holiday opening

Josiah Henson Museum and Park, Special opening, Monday, February 17, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.

Regular hours: Friday and Saturday, 10 a.m.–4 p.m., Sunday 12–4 p.m. (Admission: $4, children and seniors; $5, adults. Parking is 1.5 blocks away at the Shriver Aquatic Center in Wall Local Park, located at 5900 Executive Boulevard).
