Rent the Rink
Cabin John Ice Rink is a great place to have a birthday party, school skate night, or holiday party. You can rent one or more party rooms and have your guests skate during a public session. Based on availability it is possible to rent the entire facility, the NHL, Olympic, or Studio rinks for private parties or events.
Rent Party Rooms During Public Session Skate Nights
If you rent a Party Room (but not one of the rinks), and want to skate during your party, be sure to check the Public Skating Schedule and book your Party Room when a Public Session is available either before, during or after your Party Room rental time. If you choose this option, you’re eligible for the Birthday Party Admission Special!

- 25 guests per room

- $90 / per hour / per room
- Three 8-foot tables
- 25 chairs per room
- Party Room #1 has a window overlooking the Olympic rink
- Party Room #2 faces the hallway; the door has a window, but there is no view of the ice.
- Party Room #3 has a window overlooking the NHL rink
Party Rooms #1, #2, and # 3 have retractable walls and may be combined for a larger space. Party Room #4 overlooks the Snack Bar area and is standalone.

Rent the Facility
Cabin John Ice Rink has three ice rinks available based on availability to rent for private parties, school and group functions, and long-term contracts. Please see the chart below for rates, capacities, and basic info. If your group or school is specifically interested in a Saturday night rental from October through March, see the “School Skate Nights” information.
Studio Rink
- 1/3 of a full-size rink
- 80 skaters
- $225 / per hour. Skate rentals are not included in the rink rental price and are $4.00 per person.
- Great for younger kids’ parties, small hockey groups and broom ball games
NHL Rink
- Full Sheet (Ice Rink)
- 450 skaters
- $390 / per hour. Skate rentals are not included in the rink rental price and are $4.00 per person.
- Includes: Sound system
- Great for large parties, school events, reunions, bar/bat mitzvahs, private hockey events, graduation parties
Olympic Rink
- Full Sheet (Ice Rink)
- 450 skaters
- $390 / per hour. Skate rentals are not included in the rink rental price and are $4.00 per person.
- Includes: Sound system, disco ball
- Great for large parties, school events, reunions, bar/bat mitzvahs, private hockey events, graduation parties
School Skate Nights at Cabin John Ice Rink
Our popular School Skate Nights are held on Saturday nights during the school year (October through March).
Your school or group can rent the NHL Rink for 1.5 hours on a Saturday night (6:30 to 8pm) for $585.00. This fee includes admission for the first 100 skaters. If you have more than 100 skaters in your group, Cabin John offers a discounted admission fee of $8.00 per person. Skate rentals are not included in the fee (skate rentals are $4.00 per person).
The maximum number of skaters on the ice is 450. If your group is larger than this, you might also consider renting the Studio Rink for the younger skaters in your group. Want to serve refreshments before or after skating? Rent one or more Party Rooms on your Saturday night.
The lottery for 2025-2026 was held in May 2025. If you did not participate in the lottery, dates are still available. Please contact Julie Norris or call at 301-765-8626.
Leased Ice for Groups
If you’d like to rent the NHL or Olympic rink on a long-term basis for your group, please email Facility Manager Bill Anderson or call him at 301-765-8623. Prices begin at $390 per hour.
