In the 1960s, M-NCPPC/Montgomery Parks began acquiring the land we now call South Germantown Recreational Park in order to preserve open space and provide parkland for residents in northern Montgomery County. Most of the park’s 695 acres of rolling hills once belonged to the James and Macie King Farm, a working dairy farm since the mid-1800s.

South Germantown Recreational Park is one of Montgomery Parks’ most active parks! The large park offers a variety of activities to choose from, including hiking, biking, archery, miniature golf, swimming, soccer, picnicking, and adventure play, to name just a few.

The park offers Community Garden Plots, too! For more information, visit Community Gardens.
