Sligo Creek Fest

Join us on Saturday, May 2, from 11 am to 3 pm for Sligo Creek Fest. The annual event transforms the Sligo Creek Open Parkway into a vibrant street festival.  Enjoy multiple performance stages, kids’ activities including touch a truck and tree climbing, roving entertainment, food and drink vendors, and hands-on activities and demonstrations from various Montgomery Parks groups


Live Music & Entertainment 

Enjoy performances for all ages across three stages: the Main Stage, Acoustic Stage, and Kids’ Stage. From high-energy acts to family-friendly fun, there’s something for everyone. 

Main Stage


You won’t want to miss great live music at the Main Stage from the DuPont Brass and Capital Effect.

DuPont Brass

DuPont Brass, a vibrant ten-piece ensemble from the DMV, originated from the musical halls of Howard University. With their signature “Eclectic Soul” sound, they seamlessly blend jazz, hip-hop, and R&B, captivating audiences across the nation with their dynamic live performances and acclaimed albums, “Music Education” and “Professional Development.” 

Capital Effect 

Capital Effect is a rock band with nearly thirty years of full-time touring experience, performing across over forty states and thirteen countries, and sharing stages with notable acts like The Goo Goo Dolls, Maroon 5, and Kansas; they play more than 75 events annually, featuring a diverse repertoire of over 1000 cover songs across all genres, including medleys to maintain energy and audience engagement 

Parks Playhouse Jr. Stage 


Located on the Parkway near Whitehall St., the Parks Playhouse Jr. Stage features Rocknoceros and Culture Queen, both part the upcoming 2026 Montgomery Parks Playhouse Jr. Series line-up, offering immersive, kid-friendly entertainment.

Rocknoceros has been entertaining fans throughout the county since 2005, performing their unique versions of children’s classics including performances at Austin City Limits, Lollapalooza, and The Kennedy Center.

Culture Queen

Jessica “Culture Queen” Smith is an award-winning, internationally recognized creative visionary working as a children’s performer, educator, playwright, curator, and arts leader. She creates vibrant, immersive cultural arts experiences that spark joy, celebrate personal heritage, and honor the traditions of cultures around the world—leaving audiences inspired, connected, and curious.

Kid-Friendly Entertainment


Be sure to stop by these kid-friendly activities and keep an eye out for roving entertainers throughout the festival.

Food and Drinks 

Attendees are welcome to bring their own food, or purchase food, drinks, or a treat from one of our many vendors at the event. To keep you fueled and moving there are two food and beverage locations this year; one near the Main Stage and another located near the Parks Playhouse Jr. Stage. A reminder that no outside alcohol is permitted.

Getting to the Festival

We encourage attendees to enjoy the open parkway by hiking to the event along one of our amazing trails, biking from your neighborhood, or even walking to the event with your friends and family.
