Group Lesson Information
There’s a program that’s right for you at Wheaton Indoor Tennis! Senior or junior, experienced or beginner, if you want to learn tennis or improve your game, check out our tennis classes on ActiveMONTGOMERY . We offer several sessions of most classes on multiple days of the week to make it easy to find one that fits your schedule. Classes typically meet once a week for six weeks throughout the year. We have loaner racquets for our beginner classes and affordable starter racquets available for purchase at the facility with your class registration.

Fall 1 Youth Tennis Classes
These leveled classes are designed for children ages 4 to 12. Classes are offered by ages and skill level. Class fee includes six group lessons. Loaner racquets are available for beginner classes and starter racquets are available for purchase. Children should wear athletic shoes and clothes to class and bring a water bottle.
Parent and Child Tennis (ages 4 to 5)- PTEN0001
Parent and Child Tennis Registration
Our youngest beginners, with the help of a parent, will practice basic tennis skills through fun exercises and games that can be continued outside of class. Fee covers one adult and one child; register the child only. (Red Court/Red Balls; loaner racquets available). Class fee is $135 and includes six one-hour classes.

Prerequisite: Passed Youth Tennis, Intermediate. For players who can rally consistently and comfortably engage in point play against a variety of players. Focus will be on improving movement, positioning, concentration, focus, shot placement, and closing points. (Combination of Red Court/Red Balls and Orange Court/Orange Balls); may incorporate use of Green Dot Ball for players ready to transition from the Orange Court to full court play). Class fee is $135 and includes six one-hour classes.

The goal of this class is to teach fundamentals of the game, including etiquette and vocabulary, rules, positioning, and scorekeeping. Players will learn basic mechanics for hitting groundstrokes, volleys, overheads and serves. May incorporate use of Orange and Green Dot Balls to reinforce development, consistency, and control. Class fee is $132 and includes six one-hour classes.

Designed to turn adult beginners into tennis players. Private Lessons
Private lessons with accredited instructors employed by the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission are available at Wheaton Indoor Tennis Center and may be booked directly with instructors. Clients are responsible for court fees.

Coach Rachel is a PTR certified tennis instructor with 40 years of experience, who enjoys sharing her passion for the game with people of all ages and abilities. Rachel is also the Co-Program Director of ACEing Autism, Washington, an adaptive tennis program, where children with autism can work on tennis, athletic and social skills in supportive and structured classes. Rachel strives to make tennis fun and accessible for everyone! When not coaching, Rachel enjoys spending time with her family, competing in local tennis leagues and reading.
