Street festival takes place May 3, 2025, featuring music, entertainment, and food.

WHEATON, Md. – Join Montgomery Parks for an afternoon of fun, music, and entertainment at the second annual Sligo Creek Fest on Saturday, May 3 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Held on a portion of Sligo Creek Parkway that is closed to vehicular traffic on weekends, the festival will feature musical performers on three stages, as well as nature activities, kid’s activities and a variety of local food and brewery options.

“We are thrilled to be celebrating the second annual Sligo Creek Fest, featuring five bands on three stages, including a special children’s stage, as well as a host of demonstrations and hands-on activities led by Montgomery Parks,” said Megan DeMillo, special events supervisor for Montgomery Parks Activation Team.
The street festival will feature musical acts, including headliners Brass Queens—a Brooklyn-based, female-led brass band, and Kristen and the Noise, as well as an array of fun activities like inflatable archery and soccer. Other activities include:
- Tree climbing for kids, led by Montgomery Parks arborists
- Electrofishing techniques to collect fish for identification in freshwater streams with Montgomery Parks natural resources specialists
- Basics of mountain biking from Montgomery Parks’ Roots to Rocks program
- Archaeology activities with parks experts to highlight important historic sites that have been preserved
- Montgomery Parks’ mobile nature center, Nature on Wheels featuring a variety of cute critters for attendees to meet
- Park Police mounted officers, and their horses will be on hand

Visitors are encouraged to walk or bike to Sligo Creek Fest using the many trails that connect to the area. Limited nearby street parking is available, including accessible parking spaces. Visitors are welcome to bring blankets or chairs and food, but outside alcoholic beverages are not permitted.
