WHEATON, Md.— Montgomery Parks is hosting an in-person open house to gather community feedback on a new skate park coming to Long Branch Local Park in Silver Spring.
What: Long Branch Skate Park Open House
When: Wednesday, November 5, 2025, 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Where: Rolling Terrace Elementary School All-Purpose Room
705 Bayfield Street, Takoma Park, MD 20912
Note: Online registration is requested but not required
Attendees will have the chance to review several skate park design concepts and share their feedback. Input from the meeting will help shape the final skate park design, which will be built as part of the Long Branch Local Park renovation project.
“The skate park will be a great asset to the Long Branch community and will serve as a focal point of the overall park renovation,” said Evan Dintaman, project manager for Montgomery Parks. “When combined with all of the new and upgraded amenities, the renovated Long Branch Local Park will provide safe spaces for active and passive recreation that cater to the entire family.”
While the open house will focus exclusively on the skate park design, Montgomery Parks is planning upgrades to nearly every other part of Long Branch Local Park. The parking and entrance will be improved, the playground will be completely renovated, a new soccer field will be constructed, and the courts will be upgraded to include soccer, basketball, and a fitness area. The new skatepark is supported by $362,000 in bond bill funding requested by District 20 State Delegate David Moon and approved by the Maryland legislature. The project is expected to be completed in 2027. A video overview of the renovation is available online.
The park renovation is part of the Long Branch Parks Initiative, a strategic effort to enhance public spaces in the neighborhoods along the Long Branch stream.
