Montgomery Parks honors Memorial Day with extended Open Parkways hours, announces operating hours

WHEATON, Md. – Montgomery Parks announces 2025 Memorial Day operating hours, including extending its Open Parkways through Monday, May 26, for the holiday weekend.    

Open Parkways schedule

The Open Parkways will be extended for the Memorial Day holiday weekend. During this time, parkways are open to pedestrians and bicyclists and closed to motor vehicles.

Sligo Creek Parkway between Old Carroll Avenue and Piney Branch Road will be on an amended schedule due to Purple Line construction. Click here to learn more about this change.

*Please note: Gate closures are intended to be completed by the times listed above. The re-opening of the parkways begins at the times listed above. However, this process may take up to 30 minutes to complete.

The South Germantown SplashPark & Mini-Golf and Lake Needwood and Black Hill Boats (Kayak, canoe, rowboats, and pedal boat rentals) 

Following is a sampling of facilities that are open during the holiday weekend

OPEN Saturday, May 24 through Monday, May 26

OPEN Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, May 25

The following facilities will be CLOSED on Memorial Day, Monday, May 26, 2025
