Extreme temperatures and humidity cause cancellations and closures. Cooling opportunities available

WHEATON, Md. – Montgomery Parks staff are closely monitoring this week’s skyrocketing temperatures and humidity to ensure the safety of park visitors.
Heat-related closures and cancellations:
- Brookside Gardens Butterfly Experience will be closed July 2 through July 5.
- The miniature trains at Wheaton and Cabin John Regional Parks are closed July 2 through July 4, and will reopen on Sunday, July 5. The carousel at Wheaton Regional Park will be open.
- Boats at Lake Needwood and Black Hill are closed July 2 through July 4 and will reopen on Sunday, July 5.

Media Opportunities:
- South Germantown Splash Park is open Tuesday-Sunday from 10:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
- Cabin John Ice Rink and Wheaton Ice Arena have many public skating sessions throughout the week. Check the website for more details.
