All Anglers Fishing Rodeo Social Narrative

The All-Anglers Fishing Rodeo will be a fun day outdoors! There will be a quick lesson and staff available to assist, though parent assistance is required. There will also be adaptive fishing equipment available, and prizes will be given in multiple categories.

Arriving

When you arrive, you will check in at the tables between 8:15am and 8:45am. Once you are checked in, you will receive your gear. We will provide all participants with fishing rods, bobbers, live bait, a bucket, fishing guides, and other goodies.

Parking

There are two options for parking. You may park along the street on Overlook Park Drive next to Kings Local Park or in the accessible parking lot.  We recommend and encourage you to drop your equipment and family/friends off at the pond before parking.

Parking along overlook and park drive

We recommend and encourage you to drop your equipment and family/friends off at the pond before parking.

There is a small parking lot for accessible parking at the park.

Activities

There will be many fun things to do at All Anglers Fishing Rodeo!

We will have our new friends from Maryland Worm Company there. They will be sponsoring the Bait Station and will have a variety of interactive activities available at their table!

After you check in and grab your gear. You can pick your fishing spot. You can either fish from the dock or on the land next to the pond. All the spots are great!

Once you pick your spot, you’ll come back to the check-in area by 8:45am for a quick demonstration of how-to fish.

You can go back to your fishing spot and put water in your bucket. It is important to put water in your bucket from the pond so the fish you catch can still swim.

Then, you can begin fishing!

Once you catch a fish, wave the flag provided to you in your swag bag. Someone will come over and help you measure your fish. Staff can also help you take your fish off the hook. It is important to keep our fish in the water as much as possible to keep them alive!

Awards

At 10:40am, the Award Ceremony will begin near the check-in area. There will be awards given out for:

  • The biggest fish caught
  • The smallest fish caught
  • The most fish caught

Facilities

There will not be food available at this event. There will be a water cooler so you can refill a reusable water bottle you bring from home and wash your hands.

You can also bring food or snacks from home to the event in case you get hungry.

We need to remember to please keep our parks clean! We should throw away our trash and recycle items in their respective bins.

If we need to use the restroom, there is an accessible port-a-john available at the event.

Sensory Retreat Area

The Sensory Retreat Tent is a space to get away from the noise or a safe place to reset. The Sensory Retreat Tent offers fidgets, noise cancelling headphones, sensory friendly seating, and other items we can borrow to recompose and relax.
