
WHEATON, Md. – Montgomery Parks invites photography enthusiasts and Garden of Lights fans to participate in the Garden of Lights’ Back in Time Photo Contest, celebrating the beloved winter light display at Brookside Gardens. The contest runs from November 3 – 19, 2025.
Participants are invited to share up to four of their favorite photos from previous Garden of Lights shows, dating back as far as 1998, for a chance to win four tickets to this season’s show (off-peak dates). Submissions can be uploaded to the contest webpage. One winner will be chosen by Montgomery Parks’ marketing team and announced on Thursday, November 20.
“Garden of Lights has been a cherished Montgomery County tradition for nearly three decades,” said Stephanie Oberle, director of Brookside Gardens. “This contest is a wonderful way for our visitors to share their favorite memories and help us celebrate the magic, creativity, and community spirit that make this event so special year after year.”
By entering, participants grant Montgomery Parks permission to use submitted photos on its social media channels, website, and newsletters to help showcase the community’s lasting connection to the event.
Montgomery Parks staff are also encouraged to share their favorite memories to help promote the contest and celebrate the event’s 27-year history.
