Centerway Local Park – Playground Renovation

Centerway New Playground Rendering

Project Description

This project will renovate the existing playground and enhance the accessibility of the picnic shelter and parking lot at Centerway Local Park. The park is located at 9551 Centerway Road, Gaithersburg, MD

Background

The existing playground will be removed, and a new playground will be installed its place. Local park playgrounds are typically 3,500 to 5,000 square feet in size and include playground equipment to meet the needs of children from ages 2-12, and seating for caregivers. Typical types of equipment include swings, play structures and smaller freestanding pieces.

Enhancements to the parking lot include improved ADA spaces with access to the picnic shelter, the playground, and the ballfield. The existing picnic shelter will be replaced, the surfacing will be leveled, and improved and accessible furnishings will be added.
