Athletic Field Use Permit Policy Review and Update

South Germantown Recreational Park - Cricket Pitch

Project Description

This project is a thorough evaluation of the existing Montgomery Parks Athletic Field Use Permit Policy to identify areas for improvement and make necessary updates that better align the policy with the current needs and goals of Montgomery Parks, athletic field users, and the larger community.

Background

The Montgomery Parks Athletic Field Use Permit Policy is the document that establishes procedures for the use and reservation of Montgomery Parks athletic fields for practices, games, tournaments and special events. The Policy covers topics including criteria for permitting, permitting seasons, application schedule and procedures, off-season use regulations, field use for non-designated sports, general guidelines for field use, and fee schedule.

The current policy was last updated more than 10 years ago and is due for review.

Project Status

Montgomery Parks staff are evaluating the policy document while conducting research on best practices, reviewing current permitting status and challenges, and studying field conditions and maintenance requirements related to field use. Stakeholder engagement will be part of the review process. The process for updating the policy is anticipated to take up to 18-24 months.
