What is Archaeology Day?
Archaeology Day is a special event where I can learn about the past. I can explore activities, watch demonstrations, and try hands-on experiences. People of all ages will be there. It may be busy and sometimes noisy.

Getting There
First, I will arrive at the park and go to the parking area. Then, I will walk toward the entrance. There may be signs and people to help guide me.

Starting My Visit
First, I will go to the Welcome & Info area. Then, I can learn what activities are happening.
This is also where house tours begin at specific times (11:00 am and 1:30 pm).

Moving Around the Event
There are paths and grassy areas to walk on. I will walk safely, stay with my group, and look for signs like ENTER and EXIT.

Exploring Activities
I can choose what I want to do. I do not have to do everything. First, I choose an activity. Then, I can try it or watch.
Some activities I might see:
- Making pottery
- Weaving
- Decorating my own bag
- Learning about the “Three Sisters” (plants)
- Trying old-time games
- Watching flintknapping or felting demonstrations
- Exploring tools of the trade
- Visiting a simulated dig site (for older kids)

At the Mansion
First, I can go to the Needwood Mansion. Then, I can join a house tour if I want. Tours start at set times, and I may need to wait.

Food and Rest
If I get hungry, I can go to the food truck or picnic tables. There are also restrooms near the picnic area. First, I tell someone I need a break or food. Then, I can rest and eat.
Quiet or Sensory Break
If I feel overwhelmed, I can take a break. There is a Sensory Space in the Pavilion where it may be quieter. First, I notice how I feel. Then, I can take a break if I need one.

Getting Ready and What to Bring
First, I will choose clothes that can get dirty and put on closed-toed shoes.
Then, I will get ready for warm weather by wearing sunscreen, a hat or head covering, and bringing a water bottle.

Important Things to Remember
- I can choose what activities I do
- It is okay to take breaks
- I can ask for help if I need it
- I may need to wait my turn
- I can have fun learning new things
