Montgomery Parks prohibits all outdoor fire activities following a statewide burn ban

WHEATON, Md. – Montgomery Parks is prohibiting all outdoor fire activities following a statewide burn ban issued by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources. The burn ban was issued November 1, 2024, due to extremely dry conditions across the state, prohibiting all open-air burning, including campfires and charcoal grilling.

Montgomery Parks is temporarily prohibiting the use and rental of charcoal grills and campfire rings.

These restrictions are in place to protect public safety and comply with state regulations. The ban will remain in effect until the Maryland Forest Service determines the state has received enough precipitation to reduce the threat of wildfires statewide.

Montgomery Parks will lift the restrictions as soon as it is deemed safe to do so.

If you see an active, uncontrolled fire, call 911 immediately. However, if you observe someone using a firepit or campfire ring, please contact The Maryland-National Capital Park Police at 301-949-8010 instead.
