Montgomery Parks plans significant renovations for Long Branch Local Park, including a new lit skate park and lit turf soccer field

The public can provide input during a 30-day comment period

Long Branch Local Park

WHEATON, Md. – Montgomery Parks is hosting a 30-day comment period from June 1 – 30, 2026, for the public to share their input on future renovations at Long Branch Local Park in Silver Spring. Comments may be submitted online. Improvements include new recreational amenities, enhanced safety features, and upgraded infrastructure. Video presentations about the updates are available in English and Spanish.

Planned enhancements include:

“These improvements are the result of outreach we have been doing for the Long Branch Parks Initiative to address the park, recreation, and public space needs of the Long Branch area strategically and holistically,” said Miti Figueredo, director of Montgomery Parks. “We’re excited to deliver expanded recreational opportunities while incorporating environmentally responsible design.”

Park construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2027.
