WHEATON, Md. — Montgomery Parks is offering a full slate of fun and educational programs in November. From evening hikes that take advantage of the earlier evenings and trivia nights to our mobile nature center and birdwatching, there are activities for all ages and interests.

*Please note: Beginning November 1, Brookside Nature Center will be closed on Mondays and Tuesdays until further notice. Other hours remain unchanged.

November nature center events include: 

Project FeederWatch | Thursdays and Fridays, November 2–December 1 | 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.

Locust Grove Nature Center, 7777 Democracy Boulevard, Bethesda

Project FeederWatch is a seasonal community science project where participants count the different species of birds that flock to a bird feeder. All levels of birders are welcome. Registration required. Ages 5 and older. Free.

Family Fire Night | November 3 | 6 – 8 p.m.
Brookside Nature Center, 1400 Glenallan Avenue, Wheaton

Join a park naturalist for an evening campfire and bring a favorite campfire snack for roasting. Ages 6 and older. Registration required. $7.

Maydale Nature Classroom: Community Celebration | November 4 | 1 – 4 p.m.

Maydale Nature Classroom, 1638 Maydale Drive, Colesville

Activities will include live music, campfire and s’mores, apple cider making, fall crafts and appearances by Smokey Bear. All ages. Free.

Virtual Family Trivia Night: Dark Sky Theme | November 15 | 6 – 7 p.m.

Meadowside Nature Center, 5100 Meadowside Lane, Rockville

Gather around the table with family and friends with Quizmaster Jenn as she conducts a dark sky-themed trivia night. All ages. Registration not required but will be capped at the first 200 teams. Free.

Nature Center Pop-Up | November 19 | 1 – 4 p.m.

Josiah Henson Museum and Park, 11410 Old Georgetown Road, North Bethesda

We’re bringing the nature center to you. Talk with a naturalist, explore natural objects, ask questions and try out biology-themed activities in our Nature on Wheels mobile nature center. All ages. Free.

Full Moon Fridays | November 24 | 5:30 – 7 p.m.  

Locust Grove Nature Center, 7777 Democracy Boulevard, Bethesda

Take a full moon hike and enjoy a campfire. Bring hot dogs or food to warm over the fire. Marshmallows will be provided. Ages 5 and older. Registration required. $8.

Post-Thanksgiving Family Movie Night featuring ‘Sign Up’ ASL Interpretation | November 24 | 6 – 8 p.m.

Meadowside Nature Center, 5100 Meadowside Lane, Rockville

Bring your Thanksgiving leftovers to this indoor picnic and enjoy a family-friendly film. The movie will have sound and will feature “Sign Up” which provides ASL interpretation during the film. Popcorn also provided. Registration required. $5.

Night Hike | November 27 | 5 – 6 p.m.

Black Hill Nature Programs, 20926 Lake Ridge Drive, Boyds

Join us for a post-sunset one-mile hike and listen for creatures that are most active at night. Registration required. $6 ($5 Friends of Black Hill).
