Wheaton, Md. – Montgomery Parks is inviting community members to help shape the future of New Hampshire Estates Park by participating in an upcoming virtual community meeting and online survey. The meeting will be conducted in English and Spanish, and take place on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, from 7 – 8:30 p.m. The online survey is open through June 30, 2026.

WHAT:    Virtual community meeting
WHEN:   Wednesday, May 13, 2026, 7 – 8:30 p.m.
WHERE: Online at mocoparks.org/NHEzoom

New Hampshire Estates Park is nearly five acres and located on University Boulevard near Piney Branch Road and Carroll Avenue in Silver Spring. It is slated for significant upgrades, including a new playground, community garden, shaded seating, and other amenities such as an expanded soccer field or soccer court. These upgrades will improve safety and accessibility as the area prepares for the opening of the nearby New Hampshire Estates Purple Line station.

“Community input is a critical part of this project,” said Kara Lanahan, the park project manager. “Feedback received through the meeting and survey will help shape a park design that reflects the needs and priorities of the neighborhood.”

The New Hampshire Estates Neighborhood Park renovation is part of a multi-year planning and engagement process that builds on earlier community outreach conducted as part of the Long Branch Parks Initiative. Feedback collected this spring will help inform the selection of a preferred design concept and future phases of the project.
