Make midsummer mornings memorable with Montgomery Parks Playhouse Junior series

WHEATON, Md.— This July Montgomery Parks invites families to kick off their summer mornings with Parks Playhouse Junior, a free fun-filled lineup of outdoor performances for children ages 2-8.

From rocking out with the award-winning band Rocknoceros, to exploring Black history with Culture Queen, to laughing and learning with the Science Guys of Baltimore and watching the timeless tale of Peter and the Wolf come to life with The Puppet Co., each show combines entertainment and education at a park near you.

All shows run from 10 to 11 a.m., the perfect time to enjoy cooler mornings, so bring a picnic blanket or lawn chair, some snacks, and make memories with the little ones. Don’t forget to bring your water bottles!

Rocknoceros

Sing, dance, and get silly with this award-winning, fan-favorite duo that has graced the stages of Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits, the Kennedy Center, and more.

Culture Queen

Take an inspiring and empowering journey through Black history with acclaimed teaching artist, children’s musician, and author, Culture Queen.  

Science Guys of Baltimore

Exploding experiments and fizzy fun.Their high-energy States of Matter Show brings chemistry to life with dry ice, bubbling potions, and awe-inspiring chemical reactions.  

The Puppet Co.

Delight in a playful retelling of Peter and the Wolf, performed by the beloved puppeteers of Glen Echo’s The Puppet Co.

About Parks Playhouse Junior

Parks Playhouse Junior is a seasonal series from Montgomery Parks that brings high-quality children’s performances to local parks across the county. Featuring music, theater, and interactive storytelling, the series runs throughout the summer on select weekday and weekend mornings from 10 to 11 a.m. All performances are free to attend. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own water bottles.
