Weed Warrior Workday at Rock Creek Regional (Lake Frank area)

Weed Warrior pulls wineberry

Save the trees and protect the stream valley ecosystem

Join Weed Warrior Supervisor Monica for a non-native, invasive plant removal workday in Rock Creek Regional Park (Lake Frank area) in Rockville/Aspen Hill. We will focus on non-native, invasive vines and shrubs, including roundleaf bittersweet (Celastrus orbiculatus), porcelainberry (Ampelopsis glandulosa var. brevipedunculata), Japanese barberry (Berberis thunbergii), and multiflora rose (Rosa multiflora). Please note, the barberry and multiflora rose have thorns!

We are meeting close to Emory Lane. The exact meeting location will be emailed to all pre-registrants prior to the event.

Dress for the weather. Please wear long pants that cover your ankles, tall socks, long sleeves, and sturdy, closed-toed shoes. Bring warm gloves, pruners, small folding hand saws and/or loppers if you have them. Gardening-type gloves and tools are available to borrow if you don’t have your own. No power tools or machetes allowed. Please bring water to drink. Please note: Court Ordered Volunteer Hours can’t be granted through this workday.

This event is capped at 10 people.

This workday is pre-approved for MCPS SSL hours. Volunteers must be 16 years or older to join this event.
