Save the trees and protect the stream valley ecosystem
Join Weed Warrior Supervisor Ed and Certified Weed Warrior Scott at a “super warrior” event to take out some of the biggest Wintercreeper (Euonymus fortunei) vines you’ve ever seen! These vines are choking trees in Northwest Branch SVU5/Matthew Henson State Park Unit #4. Bring your (large) folding saws and loppers, and go home with a story of having conquered the beast! Meet at the corner of Atwood Road and Foggy Glen Drive in Layhill, MD.
Please wear long pants that cover your ankles, long sleeves, long socks, and sturdy, closed-toed shoes. Bring gloves, pruners, flathead screwdrivers, folding hand saws, and/or loppers if you have them. Gloves and tools are available to borrow if you don’t have your own. No power tools or machetes allowed. Please bring water to drink. Please note: Court Ordered Volunteer Hours can’t be granted through this workday.
This event is capped at 15 people.
