About the Artist: Unity Reggae
Founded in the fall of 1989 as a variety band, the group found its reggae roots and emerged as Natty Skank. The band, now called Unity Reggae Band, has evolved into a seasoned ensemble with interchangeable members, including Andrew Bishop on guitar, Isaac Kouao on drums, Olayta Rigsby on bass, Chitran Pavan on percussion, Mark Leary on lead vocals, bass, guitar, drums, and keys, Meredith Leary on keyboard and vocals, and A. Monet Musafiri on vocals.
Their diverse musical backgrounds converge under the umbrella of Reggae, creating a fresh yet authentic sound rooted in the genre’s traditions. With a repertoire spanning original compositions and covers, each Unity Reggae performance is unique. They’ve toured the US three times, spreading their message of positivity at colleges, clubs, weddings, fundraisers, festivals, and community events throughout the Mid-Atlantic and beyond.
