This tour offers visitors a behind-the-scenes look at Pope Farm Nursery—a working facility that is not normally open to the public. Operated by Montgomery Parks, Pope Farm plays a vital role in supporting the health and beauty of our parks through programs like green waste recycling and native plant production. One of the most unique aspects of this facility is its Native Plant Program, which collects and propagates wild seeds from local ecosystems to be used in park restoration and conservation projects. Few park systems in the country have such a program! Through this tour, we aim to highlight the innovative work happening here and share why native plants are essential for building resilient, biodiverse landscapes in our community. This 30 minute tour takes place during Locust Grove’s Fall Native Plant Sale held at Pope Farm Nursery 7400 Airpark Rd. in Gaithersburg. Free. Drop-ins welcome. No registration required.
