Commemorating the 160Maryland Emancipation
Maryland Emancipation Day was first celebrated on November 1, 1864. It marked the change in the Maryland State Congress to free all enslaved people from their bondage.
Join us on Sunday, November 3 for live music featuring blues artists, Jay Summerour and Eric Selby (performing at 1:00 pm and 2:30 pm), and stories by Story Tapestries’ master storytellers, Sheila Arnold and Sarah Brady presenting “Do Justice – Voices of the Civil Rights Movement.” (performing at 1:30 pm and 3:00 pm).
Enjoy historic games, crafts and free guided tours of the Thomas Harper Cabin at Brookside Nature Center. Free.
