Discover the joy of creating with Hands-On History! In this dynamic program, kids will dive into the skills and crafts of the past as they explore a variety of traditional hands-on activities. From wood carving and leather working to paper making, basket weaving and more, each session offers a new opportunity for young crafters to learn, create and connect with history in a tangible way. Guided by engaging instructors, participants will gain confidence as they work with real tools and materials – experiencing firsthand how everyday items were crafted long before modern technology. Each session brings a fresh project and a chance to explore a different historical technique.
Get ready to explore the history of trades with this metalworking program! Students will discover how people in the past used metal to make essential and artistic items like tools, utensils, coins, fences, wheels, ornaments, and more. Through guided activities, students will try their hands at simple metalworking techniques like tin punching, learning about the skill, creativity, and hard work it took to craft these essential pieces of daily life, and making their own masterpieces in the process.
Please keep in mind that this class involves the use of hammers, nails, and small pieces of metal that could potentially be sharp.
This is a drop-off program, but parents are welcome to hang around the Farm Park during the class. Please remember to bring water and dress for the activity – some may get messy!
