Group Ride - Lasher Recumbent Handcycle

Sign up to join a Roots 2 Rocks group mountain bike trail ride on one of our adaptive bikes. This “no rider left behind” ride is designed to be safe, inclusive, and enjoyable for all participants. Rides average 5 miles, and a bike fitting and orientation will take place before the ride begins. Riders will be accompanied by volunteer guides and sweeps to ensure a supportive experience for everyone.

Eligibility Requirements for Adaptive Mountain Biking:
o Rider must make safe decisions in fast-paced environments.
o Rider can follow safety precautions.
o Rider can hold their head upright without neck support.
o Rider can wear a properly fitted bike helmet and safety gear.
o Rider can understand and follow multi-step instructions in a fast-paced setting.
o Rider can transfer in and out of the bike independently or with some assistance.
o Rider can remain alert and focused throughout the ride, making quick decisions on variable terrain.
o Rider must demonstrate the ability to independently pedal, steer, stop, start, and navigate different terrain suited to their experience level.

You will receive a request to complete our online Adaptive Sports Pre-consultation form and be contacted by a member of the Program Access team in preparation for the program. A detailed email will be sent prior to the program as a reminder.

Lasher Recumbent Handcycle: An all-terrain handcycle designed for comfort and control, featuring adjustable seat settings, hand-operated braking, steering, and propulsion, with power assist for challenging terrain. This bike is suitable for riders with grip strength to use a hand brake, and transfers require some lower limb flexibility. The riding position is seated, recumbent, and low, offering a stable and enjoyable ride for all skill levels.
