Celebrate the last weekend of Earth Month and save the trees
Join Sarah, Weed Warrior Supervisor, for a non-native, invasive plant removal workday on the Capital Crescent Trail at the Little Falls Parkway intersection in Chevy Chase, MD. We will meet at the parking lot of the Bethesda Pool, 6300 Hillandale Rd, Chevy Chase, MD 20815. Look for us near the Trail crossing. Weather policy: We usually hold Weed Warrior Workdays as long as there is not pouring rain or deep snow. However, if the weather is deemed dangerous for outdoor activities, we will cancel. Cancellation will be posted on the LFWA website one hour before the event start time.
Please wear long pants that cover your ankles, long sleeves, and sturdy, closed-toed shoes. Bring gloves, pruners, small folding hand saws and/or loppers if you have them. Gloves and tools are available to borrow if you don’t have your own. No power tools or machetes allowed. Please bring water to drink. Please note: Court Ordered Volunteer Hours can’t be granted through this workday.
This event is capped at 10 Montgomery Parks volunteers.
This workday is pre-approved for MCPS SSL hours. Volunteers under 16 are not permitted to use tools, so if you are under 16, please email the Weed Warrior supervisor ahead of time to see whether they will have meaningful work for you to do. Volunteers 14 and under must be accompanied by a registered, responsible adult.
