WHEATON, Md.– Big changes are coming to Montgomery Parks’ Brookside Nature Center, and with them, new weekend hours are now in effect. This change is anticipated to remain through August 2026. The temporary schedule change allows crews to safely complete major projects, including a brand-new roof, a custom artist mural in the children’s discovery room, and a new digital exhibit display to engage visitors in fresh, interactive ways.
To accommodate several upgrades, the Nature Center will now be open:
- Saturdays, 10 a.m.–4 p.m.
- Sundays, 12 p.m.–4 p.m.
The facility will not be open Wednesdays through Fridays during this period, except for scheduled programming.
In addition, Brookside Nature Center, including its parking lot, will be closed for the entire month of April 2026.
“We appreciate the community’s understanding as we adjust our operating hours to accommodate important construction projects,” said Tiffany Jenkins, manager of Brookside Nature Center. “These improvements are essential for enhancing our facilities and ensuring a better experience for all visitors. We look forward to welcoming everyone during our new weekend hours and thank you for your continued support.”
Brookside Nature Center is a favorite destination for families and nature lovers. While construction is ongoing, guests can still explore exhibits, learn about local wildlife, and enjoy hands-on discovery during the new hours. Spring and summer programs will continue as scheduled and park ground and trails are always open daily, sunrise to sunset.
