Montgomery Parks 250th Booklet
In 2026 and beyond, Montgomery Parks observes the 250th commemoration of Montgomery County, the State of Maryland, and the United States of America with the Montgomery Parks 250th Booklet. Created by Montgomery Parks’ Cultural Resources Stewardship staff, this downloadable and interactive booklet encourages the public to explore the diverse history of eight parks within our vast park system. Learn about an elephant’s visit to Clarksburg, a Rosenwald School in Norbeck, take in an extraordinary view of the Potomac River at Blockhouse Point and more. Educational signage and outdoor recreation, such as trails, playgrounds, and water activities, make visiting each of these parks interesting for the whole family.
To go along with the booklet, there is a wooden post at each of the parks with the “MDTwoFifty” logo. Use a pencil or crayon to transfer the raised image on the top of the post into your booklet. Each raised image represents an important piece of that park’s history. Collect all eight images and share your experience on social media with #MoCoParks250
