Montgomery Parks to share updated plans for Wheaton Action Sports Park during November 17 community meeting

Virtual meeting will feature the latest concept design and an opportunity for community input

Wheaton, Md. – Montgomery Parks invites community members to learn about updated plans for the proposed Wheaton Action Sports Park during a virtual meeting on Tuesday, November 17, 2026, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Staff will present the latest concept design, shaped by previous community feedback, and learn about next steps in the project.

What:    Wheaton Action Sports Park virtual community meeting
When:   Tuesday, November 17, 2026, 7 to 8:30 p.m.
Where:  Online via this Zoom link.
Details:  Spanish interpretation will be available. To request interpretation in another language, email Melissa.Chotiner@MontgomeryParks.org by November 9, 2026.

Community members who can’t attend the meeting, and attendees who have additional input, can also share comments through an online survey that will be open November 2 through December 18, 2026.

The proposed park would transform ballfields 4, 5, and 6 in the Rubini Athletic Area of Wheaton Regional Park into a destination featuring a skate park, pump track, bike jump line, bouldering and extreme fitness features, an action play area, and a kids wheeled play area. An activity track and multipurpose event lawn would provide additional space for recreation and social connection.

The project grew out of the Wheaton Regional Park Master Plan, approved in June 2022, when community members identified a skate park as one of the amenities they most wanted added to the park. Subsequent community meetings, surveys, and stakeholder outreach helped shape the current concept. Plans also include shaded gathering and spectator areas, tree planting, stormwater management, and accessibility improvements.
