Help us plant natives in the meadow
Join Montgomery Parks Vegetation Management Staff and help us plant over 400 native plugs (baby plants) in the meadow where we have been actively controlling non-native invasive plants. The plants will be supplied by our very own Pope Farm nursery! We may also work on cutting invasive vines and shrubs in the area.
Meet in the main parking lot at 22201 Zion Road. We will walk to the planting site together, so please arrive early. Carpool if possible. Please note, there are no restroom facilities at this park and you will need to walk up a slight hill.
Please wear long pants that cover your ankles, tall socks, long sleeves, and sturdy, closed-toed shoes. Bring a hat and sunscreen, as we will be in the sun. Please bring water to drink. Bring gardening gloves and small hand shovels/trowels if you have them. Gloves and small shovels are available to borrow if you don’t have your own. No power tools, herbicide, or machetes allowed. Please note: Court Ordered Volunteer Hours can’t be granted through this workday.
This event is capped at 30 people.
This workday is pre-approved for MCPS SSL hours. Volunteers must be 16 years or older to join this event.
