Save the Trees and the Headwaters of Long Branch Stream
Join Weed Warrior Supervisors Barbara and Ed as they take on invasive plants in Indian Spring Terrace Local Park (the headwaters of Long Branch Stream, in the Sligo watershed). Park ecologists and engineers recently completed an Outfall Stabilization between I-495 and Flower Avenue, including a native planting. Be part of the team that helps the new plants!
The team will focus on various vine species as well as multiflora rose and bush honeysuckle shrubs. Native Virginia creeper and poison ivy are also present and beneficial, so we will avoid those.
Meet in the Park by Flower Avenue & Granville Drive. Instructions and the exact meeting location will be sent to all pre-registrants.
Please wear long pants that cover your ankles, tall socks, long sleeves, and sturdy, closed-toed shoes. Bring gloves, pruners, folding hand saws, and large loppers if you have them. Gardening-type gloves and tools are available to borrow if you don’t have your own. No power tools or machetes allowed. Please bring water to drink. Please note: Court Ordered Volunteer Hours can’t be granted through this workday.
