WHEATON, Md. – Montgomery Parks, is closing various outdoor recreational amenities this weekend, Saturday, June 22 – Sunday, June 23, 2024, due to excessive heat warnings. The following activities will be suspended:
- Boating at Black Hill Regional Park and Rock Creek Regional Park
- The driving range at South Germantown Recreational Park
(Golf classes will be rescheduled.) - Archery classes at South Germantown Recreational Park will be rescheduled.
- The miniature trains at Cabin John Regional Park and Wheaton Regional Park (An exception for birthday parties scheduled for train rides will be made.)
- The carousel at Wheaton Regional Park
Brookside Gardens Conservatory will be closed this weekend, due to high temperatures. The Conservatory hallway will remain open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. for access to bathrooms and the drinking fountain. The Visitor Center will be open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
Montgomery Parks encourages the public to take precautions during excessive heat waves, including:
- Schedule outdoor activities for cooler times of the day, before 10 a.m. and after 6 p.m.
- Stay hydrated.
- Take frequent breaks in the shade and drink water.
- Avoid alcohol and caffeine.
