Summer mornings sparkle with Montgomery Parks Playhouse Junior series

Kids raise their hands in the air with performer, Uncle Devin

WHEATON, Md.— Montgomery Parks is ramping up the fun this June with an exciting lineup of Parks Playhouse Junior performances. From whimsical marionettes to high-energy musical adventures and mind-blowing bubbles, this month’s performers are bringing the magic of live children’s entertainment to parks around the county.

Each show is from 10 to 11 a.m., making it the perfect way to start summer mornings with laughter, learning, and the outdoors. Bring your picnic blankets or lawn chairs, grab some snacks, and get ready for a memorable experience with the little ones.

Performance schedule

The Puppet Co.

Join the beloved puppeteers from Glen Echo’s The Puppet Co. for a charming retelling of Peter and the Wolf. Follow brave young Peter on his quest to catch the Wolf against the wishes of his grandfather and woodland animal friends. Ages 2-8.

The Uncle Devin Show

Feel the beat at this highly interactive musical journey led by renowned local performer and percussionist Devin Walker. With its mix of go-go rhythms and educational fun, this show is where Trouble Funk meets Schoolhouse Rock. Ages 2-8.

Jonna Productions Bubble Show

Step into a world of wonder as Jonna creates giant floating sculptures and delicate bubbles right before your eyes. Kids will pop, chase, and be put inside a giant bubble for the grand finale—if the wind cooperates. Ages 4-10.

Cantaré

Travel across Latin America with “Shake Your Bones,” a vibrant musical experience where kids sing, dance, and explore new instruments. Ages 2-8.

About Parks Playhouse Junior

Parks Playhouse Junior is a seasonal series from Montgomery Parks that brings high-quality children’s performances to local parks across the county. Featuring music, theater, and interactive storytelling, the series runs throughout the summer on select weekday and weekend mornings from 10 to 11 a.m. All performances are free to attend.
