Project Overview
The future White Flint Civic Green will be a destination for outdoor community activities and events in the heart of North Bethesda, as envisioned in the 2010 White Flint Sector Plan. The 1.5-acre space, located on the southeast corner of Grand Park Avenue and Banneker Street, will be formally named prior to the completion of Phase 2.
Project Status
The Civic Green will be built in phases. Phase 1 was designed and constructed by the developer of Grand Park, who also dedicated half an acre of open space toward the sector plan’s recommended civic green. The park, which opened in Spring 2026, includes paths, a variety of seating areas, and a ping-pong table.
While the design for Phase 1 was determined through the development review and approval process, Phase 2 will provide an opportunity for further public engagement on the final design for the entire park.
Montgomery Parks has acquired the adjacent property at 11611 Old Georgetown Rd. for Phase 2 of the civic green. When funding is available, Montgomery Parks will demolish the existing building and design and construct Phase 2
