Montgomery Parks’ Park Academy Series new spring programs focus on mental and physical well-being 

WHEATON, Md. – Montgomery Parks spring registration opens today for classes that focus on mental and physical well-being. The Park Academy Series new programs include Storytime Art for Children and Caregivers, Midday Reset Yoga and Partnering Dance 101. 

The Park Academy Series programs take place in neighborhood parks to bring fitness, wellness, and learning classes close to home for participants. Programs are offered for all age groups and are held outdoors in local parks or in park activity buildings.

Enjoy a story with your toddler and then create art inspired by the story.

Take a break from your busy day in this 45-minute indoor class focusing on the restorative practice of yoga nidra, or yogic sleep.   

Partnering Dance 101 | Mondays beginning March 10, 5:30-6:30 p.m. | Arora Hills Local Park, Clarksburg 
Dancing in the park. Partner up and learn basic Cha-Cha and Foxtrot dance steps. Whether you’re looking for a fun date night activity, a new way to connect with others, or an active hobby, this is the class for you.   

Canopy Connection-Tree Climbing for Teens | Wednesday April 16, 9am-Noon | Washington Square Neighborhood Park, Gaithersburg 

Embark on a tree climbing adventure during MCPS spring break. This hands-on course for teens offers a unique opportunity to learn the basics of ropes, how to tie basic knots, proper techniques and safety equipment used for tree climbing. Professionals will also explain how tree climbing can lead to a career path.   

Canopy Connection-Tree Climbing for 55+ | Friday May 16, 9:00 a.m.-Noon | Clarksburg Neighborhood Park 

Adults 55 years and older can take to the treetops with guidance of tree professionals. This hands-on course offers a unique opportunity to learn the basics of ropes, how to tie basic knots, proper techniques to ascent ropes and safety equipment used for tree climbing.
