What:   South Germantown Adventure Playground Grand Re-Opening
When:  Sunday, July 19, 2026, 2 to 4 p.m.
Where: 17920 Germantown Park Dr. Germantown, MD 20874.

The newly renovated two-acre playground offers inclusive play spaces for children and families of all ages and abilities. It is designed to bring people together to play, explore, and connect. A nature play area also features the beloved animal sculptures from the previous playground. Dating back to the 1980s, these sculptures were carefully restored by Montgomery Parks’ masons and exhibits team.

“In planning the renovation, we were careful to preserve existing trees, fit the design into the current landscape, and blend old and new features. There’s so much for people of all ages and abilities to do, see and enjoy,” said Montgomery Parks Director Miti Figueredo. “It’s a very special playground and we hope families have a wonderful time exploring the space.”

In addition to the play areas, the project includes accessible walkways, a multi-purpose terrace with picnic areas, a community open space, a labyrinth and game and fitness zones, along with seating, and stormwater management systems.
