WHEATON, Md. – It’s time for Montgomery Parks’ annual Oktoberfest celebration, Parks Ale Trail on Saturday, September 19, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Lake Needwood in Rock Creek Regional Park. This free, family-friendly event promises to be a fantastic day filled with live music, local craft beer, delicious food, and a 2.5-mile hiking adventure. There’s truly something for everyone.
The heart of the festival features the main performance stage, great food and drink, and family-friendly entertainment. Hikers can stop at the mid-hike beer garden at Needwood Mansion to refuel with more music and fabulous food and drink.
“There’s no better way to welcome autumn than with a day of great music and the natural beauty of Lake Needwood,” said Miti Figueredo, director of Montgomery Parks. “Parks Ale Trail offers a fun outdoor experience where visitors can explore trails, discover local breweries and food, and enjoy a relaxed atmosphere surrounded by friends and community.”
A variety of food and beverage options will be available throughout the event, including everything from hot dogs and burgers to sandwiches, ice cream, and more. Attendees can bring their own food, but we also encourage them to purchase food, drinks, or treats from one of our many local vendors.
Guests must provide valid identification to purchase alcohol, and outside alcohol is not permitted. Limited seating will be available; guests are encouraged to bring picnic blankets and chairs.
To support accessibility, Montgomery Parks Program Access will be on site with a wheelchair accessible shuttle cart to assist visitors with mobility needs and a sensory retreat tent where individuals can remove themselves from any overwhelming sensory stimuli. American Sign Language Interpreters will be at the Main Stage.
