
WHEATON, Md. – Montgomery Parks invites families to kick off summer at MudFest on Saturday, June 13, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Woodstock Equestrian Special Park in Beallsville. The annual event transforms the park into a muddy playground with giant man-made mud pits for slipping, sliding, splashing and creative play.

Tickets: $20 in advance on ActiveMontgomery. $20 cash only day of event at the gate.
Now in its sixth year, MudFest has become a signature Montgomery Parks event that encourages visitors to connect with nature in a playful, memorable way. The event features a giant mud slide, a mud volcano, and a pop-up kitchen for making mud pies. Guests can also enjoy music from a DJ, purchase event T-shirts, and grab food from local vendors.
“MudFest invites families to unplug, get messy and experience the simple joy of outdoor play together,” said Katrina Fauss, Montgomery Parks event organizer. “There’s something special about watching kids and adults alike dig in, laugh and connect with nature in such a hands-on way.”
Tips for attending MudFest:
- Wear closed-toe shoes.
- Bring water, sunscreen, and a hat for warm weather.
- Bring plastic buckets, shovels, wheelbarrows, and goggles if desired.
- Hose-off areas and changing tents available onsite.
- Bring a change of clothes and a garbage bag for muddy clothing after the event.
- Portable restrooms, including accessible units, will be available.
- Pets are welcome but must be leashed and kept out of the mud.
