Get ready for the new year with Montgomery Parks’ Winter 2025 Park Academy Series

WHEATON, Md. – Montgomery Parks announces its Winter 2025 Park Academy Series featuring fitness, wellness, and learning classes. Classes are offered for all ages, wellness types, and fitness levels at parks around the county.

“These classes make health and wellness available to everyone from toddlers to seniors and everyone in between,” said Anne Levis, program specialist at Montgomery Parks.

The Park Academy Series classes include:

POUND Fitness | 1/08/25 – 2/12/25 |Wednesdays, 5 – 5:45 p.m.
Green Farm Maintenance Facility, 8301 Turkey Thicket Drive, Montgomery Village.
This weekly, six-session indoor class is a drumming-inspired cardio indoor workout with Ripstix’s lightly weighted drumsticks.

Toddler & You Yoga (2 sessions) 12/5/24 – 2/13/25 | Thursdays, 10:30 a.m. – 11:15 p.m.
Tilden Woods Local Park, 6800 Tilden Lane, Potomac
This weekly, ten-session indoor class features dancing, singing, and frolicking with your toddler while learning yoga poses, creative movement, and breathing exercises.

1/04/25 – 3/01/25 | Saturdays, 11:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.
Quince Orchard Valley Neighborhood Park, 12015 Suffolk Terrace, Gaithersburg
This weekly, eight-session indoor class features dancing, singing, and frolicking with your toddler while learning yoga poses, creative movement, and breathing exercises.

Balance and Mobility (2 sessions)
1/09/25 – 1/30/25 | Thursdays, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
2/06/25 – 2/27/25 | Thursdays, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Both sessions will be held indoors at Clarksburg Neighborhood Park.
22501 Wims Road, Clarksburg

In this weekly, four-session, indoor class, participants will work on balance-related fitness and flexibility in a low-impact, energizing, and fun way. The program is aimed at older adults but is open to all ages 18 and up.

Breath and Movement Flow Yoga (2 sessions)
1/04/25 – 1/25/25 | Saturdays, 10 – 11 a.m.
2/01/25 – 2/22/25 | Saturdays, 10 – 11 a.m.
Both sessions will be held at Quince Orchard Valley Neighborhood Park,
12015 Suffolk Terrace, Gaithersburg

In this weekly, four-session indoor class participants will practice Viniyoga-inspired flow yoga, focusing on the movement of breath to initiate movement of the body into postures. Each class will move progressively from simple to more complex postures.

Fitness Test for ages 55+ | (2 sessions)
1/18/25, Saturday, 11 a.m. – 12 p.m., Clarksburg Neighborhood Park, 22501 Wims Road, Clarksburg
1/25/25, Saturday, 1 – 2 p.m., Quince Orchase Valley Neighborhood Park, 12015 Suffolk Terrace, Gaithersburg

This Senior Fitness Test will be held indoors for participants 55 and up and will measure participants’ endurance, strength, and flexibility using five standardized tests.

Introduction to Robotics and Coding
1/25/25, Saturday, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.  
Meadowbrook Local Park, 7901 Meadowbrook Lane, Chevy Chase
Children ages 11 – 13 will bring out their inventive engineers in this class using communication, critical thinking, collaboration, and creativity to program a robot.
