Help us plant natives in the Rock Creek Regional-Meadowside Nature Center Meadow
Join Montgomery Parks Vegetation Management Staff and help us plant over 350 native plugs (baby plants) in the meadow where we have been actively controlling non-native invasive plants. This is our second volunteer planting in this meadow. The plants will be supplied by our very own Pope Farm nursery! We may also work on cutting invasive vines and shrubs in the area.
Meet in the Meadowside Nature Center parking lot at 5100 Meadowside Lane, Rockville. Click here for a google map of the parking lot and meeting location. Please plan to arrive by 9:50am. We will walk to the planting site together; you will need to walk up a hill. (note: the nature center is closed, but we will have access to restrooms).
Please wear long pants that cover your ankles, tall socks, long sleeves, and sturdy, closed-toed shoes. Bring gardening gloves and small hand shovels/trowels if you have them. Gloves and tools are available to borrow if you don’t have your own. No power tools, herbicide, or machetes allowed. Please bring water to drink. Please note: Court Ordered Volunteer Hours can’t be granted through this workday.
This event is capped at 25 people.
This workday is pre-approved for MCPS SSL hours. Volunteers must be 16 years or older to join this event.
