Discover the joy of creating with Hands-On History! In this dynamic program, kids will dive into the skills and crafts of the past as they explore a variety of traditional hands-on activities. From wood carving and leather working to paper making, basket weaving and more, each session offers a new opportunity for young crafters to learn, create and connect with history in a tangible way. Guided by engaging instructors, participants will gain confidence as they work with real tools and materials – experiencing firsthand how everyday items were crafted long before modern technology. Each session brings a fresh project and a chance to explore a different historical technique.
We invite students to step into the past and discover the fascinating history behind one of our most beloved seasonal traditions. Kids will explore how wreaths have been used throughout history, what different cultures believed about evergreens and other natural decorations, and how wreath-making became part of holiday celebrations. Then it’s time to roll up their sleeves and get creative! Students will use traditional and natural materials to design and make their own beautiful wreath to take home, while learning how a simple circle of greenery became a lasting symbol of celebration, welcome, and the holiday season.
This is a drop-off program, but parents are welcome to hang around the Farm Park during the class. Please remember to bring water and dress for the activity – some may get messy!
