Celebrating African Rhythms through Dance & Song at Oakley Cabin African American Museum and Park

African Dancing at Oakley Cabin

Celebrate the arrival of spring and show off your best dance moves! Join us at Oakley Cabin on Saturday, April 13, 12-4 pm for a free dance workshop. Explore African rhythms from West Africa, the Caribbean Islands, Europe and North & South America. Bring the entire family to enjoy the fun!

Step inside Oakley Cabin, a living history museum, and learn about the African American roadside community that lived and worked on this historic site from emancipation well into the 20th century. Their culture and traditions heavily influenced those of surrounding communities, and their story is deeply woven into Montgomery County’s rich history.

EVENT PARKING: Overflow parking will be at Mount Zion Local Park, located 1 mile away, at 5130 Brookeville Road, Brookville. Free shuttles provided throughout the event, 12-4 pm.

Oakley Cabin African American Museum and Park is open for guided tours the 2nd & 4th Saturdays, from 12pm – 4 pm, April thru October.
