WHEATON, Md. – For 60 years, the beloved Cabin John Miniature Train has chugged along creating memories for generations of families, delighting children and adults alike as it winds through Cabin John Regional Park. To celebrate this milestone anniversary, Montgomery Parks invites the community to join to enjoy half-price train rides all day on Saturday, August 15, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Children under 12 will receive a free train whistle, while supplies last, and kids under age 2 ride free with a paying adult.
Since opening in August 1966, the miniature train has thrilled generations of riders, year after year, with many now bringing their own children and grandchildren to experience the attraction.
“For six decades, the Cabin John Miniature Train has been a tradition that connects generations,” said Miti Figueredo, director of Montgomery Parks. “Whether you’re reliving childhood memories or introducing the train to a new generation, we invite everyone to join us in celebrating this special anniversary and enjoy a ride through Cabin John Regional Park.”
