Hello! Today I am going to camp at Veirs Mill Local Park!

I packed my bag with everything I need. I have

A water bottle

Digital drawing of white and green sneakers

Close-toed shoes or boots

A graphic of a stick figure trying on a jacket and a t-shirt shorts and pants drawn next to it

Clothes that can get dirty

A digital drawing of a peanut with a red circle and line through it

A nut free lunch and snack

Sunscreen and bug spray

When I get to camp, I walk up the steps to get to the front porch of the park activity building.

My adult will check me in at the front table, making sure I have everything I need. This is when I get my name tag!

When I come inside, I place my bag along the wall.

If it’s not time for camp to start yet, I can do an activity while I wait.

I have the choice to do something like read a book or play a game with other campers.

This is a good time for me to go to the bathroom, too.

Once everyone is here, we have a morning meeting. We say hello, learn the rules and hear the plan for the day.

I will eat my snacks and lunch outside on our field trips, or inside if the weather is bad

On Monday, we will practice an emergency drill by walking to the playset.

Each day of camp, we will travel to new places and learn new things about archaeology! Here are some of the things I may do:

A woman digging into dirt with a shovel in a grassy area

Dig a shovel test pit

3 people surrounding a tray on top of a small pile of dirt, grassy field in the background

Look for artifacts by sifting through soil

A woman sits in a dig site writing on a clipboard

Learn proper archaeological documentation

A group of students standing behind and observing a man in front of them who appears to be examining an object at a table

After all our adventures for the day, we will have free time inside while we wait for our adults to come and sign us out of camp

Camp Expectations

When I’m at camp, I will make sure to:

Follow directions so I stay safe

Stay with a counselor or group at all times

Leave nature where I find it. We only touch what a counselor says is safe, and we put everything back

Stay on the trails. To help us stay safe, we need to, “Look down, stay on the brown!”

Have a fun and safe week at camp!
