Wheaton, Md. – Calling all generous neighbors and gift seekers: Montgomery Parks invites residents to give once-loved items a second life at its Holiday Share Fair on Saturday, November 21, 2026. Residents with gently used items to pass along can sign up now for a giveaway spot, offering free treasures to others who can use them.
What: Holiday Share Fair
When: Saturday, November 21, 2026, 10 a.m. to noon
Where: Black Hill Discovery Center, 20926 Lake Ridge Drive, Boyds
Cost: Free. Givers must register through ActiveMontgomery.
Held twice a year, the Share Fair uses a trunk-or-treat-style setup. Givers display items from their car trunks or on their own tables and hanging racks, while attendees browse and claim whatever catches their eye — a warm coat that never quite fit, a board game the kids outgrew, or a toy ready for its next adventure. Participants also vote for the Giver with the best setup and most unique finds, so Givers are encouraged to get creative.
“The Share Fair is a chance to make someone else’s day a little brighter,” said Christy Korzen, manager of the Black Hill Discovery Center. “Last year, kids were ‘shopping’ for holiday gifts for each other, one family found a Christmas tree, and a child went home with a canoe his dad planned to use to teach him to paddle. You never know what you might find — or what your giveaway might mean to someone else.”
Giveaway spots are still available, and registration is free through ActiveMontgomery. Only one adult per group should register, and neighbors are encouraged to team up. Each registered Giver receives up to two parking spaces for their display. All items must be given freely — no sales, bartering, or exchanges — and should be clean, usable, and complete. Givers must take home anything left unclaimed.
No registration is needed to “shop.” Simply drop by during the event to browse and take home a new-to-you find.
