Save the trees and protect the stream valley ecosystem
Join Weed Warrior Supervisor Lauren for a non-native, invasive plant removal workday in Rock Creek Stream Valley Unit 12 in Rockville. We will focus on non-native, invasive vines and shrubs, including, Japanese barberry (Berberis thunbergii), bush honeysuckle (mainly Lonicera maackii) and linden viburnum (Viburnum dilatatum). Please note, the barberry have thorns!
We will meet at 9:50am so we can walk together to the site. Meet at the end of the Hollingsworth Drive cul de sac. (The closest address is 17701 Hollingsworth Dr; do not bother the neighbor!) Click here for a map. Street parking is available. The exact meeting location will be emailed to all pre-registrants prior to the event.
Please wear long pants that cover your ankles, tall socks, long sleeves, and sturdy, closed-toed shoes. Bring gloves, pruners, small folding hand saws and/or loppers if you have them. Gardening-type gloves and tools are available to borrow if you don’t have your own. No power tools or machetes allowed. Bring water and a snack if that will help you stay energized.
