Step into the past and discover history in a fun, immersive way with Junior Historians! This program series is designed for ages 5-8, and invites young learners to explore history through interactive activities and playful discovery. Each session combines historical learning with practical, hands-on activities that bring history to life. Each class will cover a different theme, with a special emphasis on the Farm Park’s unique history, encouraging children to learn by touching, trying, and experiencing real tools, techniques, and traditions from long ago. Your child will leave with a richer understanding of history and a greater appreciation for the simple joys of farm life.
Join us on a delicious journey through the past, exploring the fascinating stories behind the foods people grew, gathered, prepared, and enjoyed throughout history. With a special focus on harvest time, kids will discover how families prepared for the changing seasons, preserved their food, and made the most of what they had available. They’ll also uncover the surprisingly exciting history of one of everyone’s favorite treats: hot cocoa! Through stories, historical exploration, and hands-on activities, students will discover that food is more than something we eat – it can tell us about people, places, traditions, survival, and the world of the past.
This is a drop off program, but parents are welcome to stay during the class. Please be sure to dress for the weather and bring water.
